Back to the basics...

I haven't drawn the figure in a long time. I love painting but it was nice to go back and draw again to gain new perspective. This drawing was about 45 min. to an hour. I'm going to miss drawing from the model once school is done with. Hopefully wherever I go I can find a place to keep on practicing good ol' observational drawing from a live model. Hope you like!

The face is incredible, man. It really shows a good use of hatching and cross-hatching, which is something you don't always see anymore with pencil drawings. To me, though, the body seems a little unfinished. I don't know if it was intended that way, but compared to the face, it just seems a little under-developed. But it's still kick-ass!

Thanks Andy. Yeah the reason that I left the body unfinished is because I consider thins kind of drawing a study so actually finishing it doesn't consern me that much. I guess I was more drawn to her face so leaving the rest like an afterthough was alright with me. As you take more figure drawing youll realize that these drawings are not that serious and that the main objective is to explore and have fun. Thanks for your thoughts though Andy, they are always appreciated!

I found your site via SACKS10. Great stuff here all around. You're a person whose mind is clearly from my neighborhood. Some of your pieces look like the could have come out of alternative versions of comics I've written. I'll definitely be back to look at more.

Beautiful figure studies. The shadows are very delicate; and the face in the second pic is lovely.

Thanks Pat, Rozum, Clive, Francisco. Your kind words really keep me motivated and validates what I'm doing as an artist even if it's in a small way.
